Why not consider starting a group yourself. One does not have to be an expert in anything, just have an interest that you would like to share with others.
The ethos of the international group, University of the Third Age, is that far from stagnating when they reach a stately age or retire, people are encouraged to continue to learn new things and keep interests up-to-date. Members are encouraged to share their knowledge and interests in the form of courses or interest groups. There is a small charge for these meetings, part of which goes to the Course Leader for providing tea/coffee and biscuits as well as the group venue. Sometimes these meetings are held in members homes, sometimes in places like the library or other outside venues. Others are outings that are arranged. We encourage new groups/courses, even if there is already one that is full. This usually means that it is a popular group or very small, and U3A members are always welcome to start another one.
Application forms for starting a new group can be obtained from the Course Coordinator listed below. These are generally posted on the wall at the General Meetings, where members can put their names down. It is the member's responsibility thereafter to contact the course or group leader who's name is on the top of the form.

U3A Blaauwberg Course / Interest Group List
The per person/per meeting fee was raised to R10 in line with costs to host, [water, electricity, tea/coffee, sugar, biscuits & anything needed for the group]. The fee consists of R7 to the host and R3 to the U3A.
We also understand that not everyone has private means and therefore struggle financially. If this is ever the case, please speak to the course leader. The U3A is there for us older people and it is never our intention to turn people away because of their personal circumstances.
Please confirm VENUE and TIME of Courses you wish to attend with your chosen Course Leader. If you are unable to attend or change your mind about joining, please notify the Course Leader.
We need more smaller groups - 3 or 4 people, in different areas for those who find travel a problem. If you only have a small place, this kind of group would be ideal. Also, the state of your home should not be a deterrent - the people coming to your group are not coming to inspect it, they are coming to enjoy the group and the company.
